Kim's pics are in!!!!

I got a call today from Kim's modeling teacher, and her pics are ready to be picked up. She said they look great, but to brace myself, because she doesn't look 12, more like 24!! I knew this was going to happen. A little bit of make up and a great photographer and boom, instant aging. I am going to pick them up after work tomorrow so I will post some tomorrow night. I am so anxious so see them I can hardly stand it.

Stephanie met Alex yesterday at the mall. This is the girl that is supposed to be going with her to Ft Lauderdale this summer. They got along great. I hope everything works out and they get to go together.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I'm going to leave you with my usual Sunday funny:

TO BE 6 AGAIN

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, observing his wife turning back and forth, looking at herself in the mirror.

Since her birthday was not far off, he asked what she'd like to have for her Birthday.

I'd like to be six again, she replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day ! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the Screaming Monster Roller Coaster... everything there was. Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down.

He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure ! Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, Well Dear, what was it like being six again?

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

I meant my Dress Size, you dumb ass !!

The moral of the story: Even when a man is listening, he is going to get it wrong.

Is Stephanie Ft Lauderdale bound?

My oldest got an invitation in the mail from Lead America to attend a 10 day conference on Forensics in Ft Lauderdale, FL. this summer. They only send these out to kids with a good GPA and are involved in extra curricular activities at school. Her GPA is a 4.33 right now, I am SOOOO proud of her. She is taking AP Psychology this semester. She is the only sophomore with all seniors. If she gets a B or better she won't have to take this class in college. She is enjoying it so far.

Anyway, back to the conference. We are seriously considering sending her, despite the extreme tuition cost because this is a great opportunity. She wants to be a verterinarian, but her fall back/second choice career is Forensics.

She would be going with a girl who's the daughter of a lady I work with, so she wouldn't be flying down alone and the other girl's grandparents live 20 minutes away from the college they will be staying at, so they offered to pick them up at the airport and take them to the place.

They will be visiting the FBI field office and getting to do real stuff that CSI's do. I am jealous. I would love to do that.

Daddy is unsure about sending her 3 states away for 10 whole days, but we are going to have to let her go in two years when she goes off to college. (I'll be blubbering like a baby on that day, LOL). She's only flown in an airplane once, and she was with us, so she's a little nervous about that.

I'll be missing her like crazy, but I don't want to stop her from going and missing this great opportunity. We shall make a decision soon. The first deposit is due next month.

What do you guys think? Should we let our 16 year old go?

My New Story

A lot of my posts from here on out are probably going to be about my story. I am going to use my blog to vent my frustrations as well as talk about my accomplishments. I have written the Prologue and the first two chapters. Kate has graciously agreed to take on the project of becoming my pre-editor. Thank you Kate! You will be worth every penny I'm sure.

She has already reviewed the prologue and offered some wonderful suggestions on it. She has such a great insight. I told her that I know that the competition is stiff, but I have to give it a shot otherwise I'll always be regretting it and wondering "what if?"

Like I said before, I will not be posting this story anywhere. Sorry about that, but rules are rules. Perhaps I will give you a teaser at some point to keep ya goin', LOL!

Thanks for all your support. You guys are great. Keep your fingers crossed for me that I come out of this experience alive and not divorced, LOL!

The Modeling Shoot

Well, I took Kim to her first modeling shoot yesterday. The photographer's name was Fabio, can you believe that? He was very nice though. He knew his stuff. And Jude, his studio looked exactly how I described Suzanne's in "Picture Perfect", if you can remember that story. It was in an old warehouse that had been restored with all these huge windows along the one wall, letting in the most awesome light. She did two different "looks", one more subtle and one more dramatic. I can't say that I liked the amount of make-up she had on for the more dramatic, but I understood the concept. I wish I would have remembered to bring my digital with me. I'm such a dunderhead. I guess you will have to wait until I get the disk from Fabio to see my beautiful girl.

I asked him how she did, after the shoot, and he said she did great, she was very relaxed and had a very natural smile and that he had to give her very little direction. I was the proud beaming mama!

I just can't wait to get them back. Well, my Steelers play today for the championship to go to the Super Bowel, so I am hoping I don't bite all my nails off. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I would LOVE to see them in the Super Bowel.

Well, I am leaving you with a Sunday funy:

Countdown to the Sweet 16!

Well, I've started my official countdown to my baby's sweet 16. Depressing in a way. We ordered the invitations, decided on a place, a cake, hired the DJ, and the food. She wants to do an hawaiian laua theme, so that should be fun. Of course, I will have plenty of pics to post. And the following day is the winter formal, so even more pics!!!

We have been so spoiled with warm temps that today's temps in the 40's are making me cold, LOL! I got a gift certificate for Christmas to a local book store and hubby wanted to take me today to spend it, but I told him that it's way too cold outside. So we've decided to plan our summer trip instead. We are doing a northeast tour of the U.S. and we are camping along the way with the exception of the very end when we are in the "Big Apple." It's gonna be a hotel there.

We are still trying to decide what we are doing for our spring break trip. We have spent the last two years going with another family, first to Charleston, SC then to St Augustine, Fl. We are supposed to take a cruise to the Bahamas this year, but we are still undecided if we want to spend that kind of money right now. We are really trying to put money away for our upcoming college student. That will be here before we know it.

Well, hubby grabbed the camping guided book, so I better go help plan this trip so we get to go where I want to go, LOL!

4. Hubby says I'm "such a guy" because I like to shoot guns, I watch more sports than him, and I'm the one that wants a big screen tv, LOL!

5. I'm a black belt in Taekwondo and can knock over a 250lb wavemaster with a side kick. What can I say? I like to hit things. I guess I am like a guy. LOL!

RV shopping?

Gosh its been a while since I've posted anything on here. I was listening to some DL while I did my house work this morning so I had to put the boys back on here. I started My Space a little while ago. I don't like it as much as blogspot because of the comments section. You can't reply to anyone on your own site like you can here. I don't know how long I'll keep it. We shall see. There are new sites popping up all the time like these, at least that's what my girls tell me.

Hubby and I are going to the RV/Camping show at our local coliseum today. Who knows, maybe I'll come back with one. Doubtful, but you never know. We are planning a northeast camping/sight seeing trip for this summer, so it would be nice to do it in an RV versus setting up a tent for just one night every night.

I have the house to myself for awhile today. Hubby is helping his dad fix a leak in their basement, Kim is with her friend seeing Narnia (I'm jealous), and Stephanie is with, who else, Will. They are picking out his tux for the winter formal, which reminds me I have to get her dress altered sometime this week. I'll post some pics when they are all dressed up and lookin' cute.

Well, I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Be safe,

Melanie
